ABOUT COLLEGE

Established in 1983, Mahatma Gandhi University is a state university located in the Kottayam district of Kerala. The university have around 100 affiliated colleges under its jurisdiction spread over five districts in central Kerala. Also known as MG University or MGU, it is ranked among the top 50 universities in India.

MG University Admissions

Admission to various UG, PG and Research programmes offered by the university are done on the basis of either candidate’s merit in the qualifying degree or their marks in the university entrance examination viz. CAT-MGU.

• MG University UG Admissions

In case of UG Admissions, eligible candidates can apply through the official MG University website by clicking “UG-CAP 2016” link and following the instructions. Those seeking admission through merit/management quota/ sports quota/ can apply directly to the concerned institute. Final selection of the candidate is done on the basis of their marks in the qualifying degree merit.

• MG University PG Admissions

In case of PG courses, candidates are shortlisted differently for different specializations. For certain specializations in BA and BSc, candidates are selected on the basis of qualifying degree merit while CAT-MGU is conducted for other specializations. Those who wish to apply can log on to “PG-CAP 2016” tab or “CAT-MGU” section for registering themselves to the respective programmes.

• MG University PhD/ M.Phil Admissions

For Research courses viz. PhD and M.Phil, candidates must appear for the Written Aptitude Test (WAT), conducted by the university itself. Once selected, they can register by filling the application form and appear for the interview round. Final selection will be done by the university committee on the basis of candidate’s performance in WAT and interview. Candidates must submit the required fee through challan and attach the receipt along with the application form.

Library:

MGU Library consists of 30 libraries and located in a sprawling campus just about 14 kms away from Kottayam, the University has wide collection of books, periodicals, magazines and journals provide infrastructure to facilitate access to growth factor. The University library is a member of the INFLIBNET Centre, and fully automated system using the library software package SOUL developed by the INFLIBNET Centre.

Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU), Kerala Admission 2020: Courses, UG & PG Admissions, Dates, Fees

MG University Kottayam offers 300 academic programs at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level in multiple subjects under the faculty of Arts, Science, Commerce, Social Sciences & Technology and Applied Sciences, Physical Education, Management Sciences. Candidates must fulfill the required eligibility criteria in order to register for UGCAP and PGCAP and appear for the admission counselling process.

Candidates are shortlisted for university Undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programmes either on the basis of their merit in the qualifying degree or marks secured in the university entrance examination viz. MGU-CAT (in the the case of selected PG courses). In the case of Ph.D. and M.Phil courses, the selection is done on the basis of candidate’s performance in written aptitude test (WAT) and interview.

Of the total merit seats available in affiliated colleges, seats will be reserved under the following criteria:

Applicants seeking admission to BA, B.Sc, B.Com and MA, M.Sc, M.Com courses need to submit a single application form and such students will be shortlisted through UGCAP (UG Centralised Allotment Process) and PGCAP (PG Centralised Allotment Process), respectively. The application fee for all candidates is Rs. 400/- (Rs. 200/- in the case of SC/ST candidates). In the case of MGU-CAT, separate exams are conducted for admission to different courses. However, a candidate needs to submit only one centralized application to register.

MG University PG Application Process 2020

The application form can be filled online from the official website of MG University on payment of INR 1000 (INR 500 for SC/ST) by Credit/ Debit Card or through Net-banking.

Reservation Criteria: 20% seats of the total seats under Open All India Quota are reserved for the students belonging to the states other than Kerala. Kerala domiciles are not eligible for this quota.

MG University MBA Admission 2020

School of Management and Business Studies, MG University offers Master of Business Administration (MBA) on the basis of marks obtained by the candidate in MAT/CMAT/CAT/KMAT, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. Interested candidates should possa ess bachelors degree in any subject with at least 50% aggregate of marks in all parts of examinations. Those awaiting final semester results are also eligible to apply provided they possess valid CMAT/MAT/CAT/KMAT Kerala scores. In case of SC/ST candidates, a pass in the qualifying exam is sufficient..

KMAT Kerala is conducted by MG University every year for admission to MBA programme, followed by GD and PI rounds. The entrance test is of 2 hours duration and comprises of multiple choice questions to assess the candidate’s ability in Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Data Interpretation, Mathematical Comprehension, English Knowledge and General Knowledge, Application forms for MBA admissions are usually available starting from April every year and interested students can apply until the third week of April.

Those seeking admission can download the application form, fill it and submit along with the registration fee of Rs. 500/- through demand draft (DD) at the university cash counter. Completed applications along with the fee can also be forwarded to the Director, School of Management and Business Studies, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam-686560, Kerala within the stipulated time.  

Note: As per mandatory reservation norms, seats are reserved for candidates belonging to different categories viz. Ezhava/Thiyya, Muslim, Other Backward Hindus, Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) etc.

MG University UG Admission 2020

For admission to UG programs such as BA, B.Com, B.Sc and BCA programs, MGU has introduced Centralised Allotment Process (CAP), a single admission window for candidates offered by the university. In the case of UG Admissions, eligible candidates can apply through the official MG University website by clicking the “UG-CAP” link and following the instructions given therein.

Those seeking admission through management/sports quota can apply directly to the concerned institute. Final selection of the candidate is done on the basis of their marks in the qualifying degree merit through UGCAP counseling process. As per the prepared rank list, candidates will be eligible for allocation of seats in all colleges/institutions under State Merit, reserved quotas and communal reservation seats. Candidates seeking admission to BA.LLB programme must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) examination with at least 50% marks in aggregate recognized by MGU. the In case of LLM admissions, a graduate degree such as BA, B.Com, B.Sc or any other equivalent degree with minimum 45% aggregate in marks. Candidates awaiting final year results can also apply provided they produce the relevant mark sheets at the time of admission.

Application forms can be downloaded from the official MGU website and submitted upon completion along with the registration fee of Rs. 500/- at the University Cash Counter or through demand draft (DD). Duly filled up applications along with Registration Fee (DD/Pay-in-slip) should be forwarded to the Director, School of Indian Legal Thought, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam - 686 006, Kerala on or before the last specified date.

In addition to regular UG/PG courses, the university also offers quality education through distance learning mode through the School of Distance Education, MGU. It offers various Undergraduate and postgraduate programmes viz.
